Oct. 11th, 2006 04:44 pmWhew, almost 20 years ago I went to the 1987 March on Washington. I was suffering through the second Reagan administration. I was working at a natural foods store.
It was incredibly powerful. I've seen different estimates, but I can easily believe there were half a million people there. With that many people in one place, I could really believe that the political tide was turning, and that we would eventually win the rights we were hoping for.
I came out at work after that. I was already out to some of the members of my family.
I came out to my parents later, when I was in a relationship (my second.) When I asked them if they had already guessed, they exchanged glances and said no. Later, my mother admitted there were clues...
