What's with all these people from Russia adding me as an LJ friend and then the account is deleted soon afterward? It's happened at least five times now.

And here I thought I was alone. I almost posted about it but decided I was alone. It's been going on for months, but most of the accounts are not deleted, just Russian. Remember that LJ was bought by a Russian company.

Jay, I'm sorry our acquaintance has been neglected. I have been meaning to communicate with you more. Unfortunately, now I come to you for technical advice. We own two computers, both of which are virus-infested, one incapacitated, the other one I am using now. May I telephone you to talk to you about our problem? May I have your telephone number again? Do you make house calls for money or meals?

I am a patient man. And today I bought a 500 gigabyte external hard drive. My goal? To transfer my data to the external drive, wipe the drive clean, and replace the OS. If you can assist with this, I will kiss your toes. If not, can you recommend someone good who can?

On the bright side, Malwarebyte and Avast seem to have saved my wife's (this) computer.
