Thanks, it was hidden among some foliage, so that probably softened the lighting a good deal. The other roses I photographed that day were in the harsh glare of Saturday noon.

I sniff 'em all. Unfortunately, my sense of smell is very poor, so a rose has to have a pungent perfume to smell like anything at all. This one has a scent, as I recall.
