Whew, almost 20 years ago I went to the 1987 March on Washington. I was suffering through the second Reagan administration. I was working at a natural foods store.

It was incredibly powerful. I've seen different estimates, but I can easily believe there were half a million people there. With that many people in one place, I could really believe that the political tide was turning, and that we would eventually win the rights we were hoping for.

I came out at work after that. I was already out to some of the members of my family.

I came out to my parents later, when I was in a relationship (my second.) When I asked them if they had already guessed, they exchanged glances and said no. Later, my mother admitted there were clues...

I'm trying to remember whether my first march on washington was 87 or 89. It was quite an experience.

And that cracks me up... "there were clues" :)

Yay Nightingale!!

Clues, eh?

I'm still discovering my clues, so many years later.

I'm so jealous. My brother Cam AKA Handlebear and a bunch of my friends went but I couldn't go. At the time I was working for the Girl Scouts and couldn't get the time off. Sigh!
