The current issue of Knitty, an online knitting magazine, is dedicated to knitting for and by men. This pattern had a nice photograph. I don't like cigars, but I do like cute guys and knitting. Two out of 3 ain't bad.
I do like cigars... but if it's cold enough to need gloves like that, I think I'd rather wait until later rather than leave a few fingers out in the cold!
It's "for men, by men" and it's called "Knitty"?!?! Ok, it's possibly somewhere between Paul Lynde gay and Liberace gay. Perhaps they should take a page from the rest of the fashion industry and call it "FMBM" (like Fubu).
Down, boy! Just this issue is for/by men. There are other, more butch websites for manly knitting. Knitty is mostly for females, who are probably 99% of knitters...
I noticed it; I do think cigar photos with an unlit cigar are somehow unsatisfying.
In context of the whole article, it's at least understandable. The gent has a wee child in the house (photo of his wife and child are at the end of the pattern) and apparently chooses to enjoy his cigars outside to spare his child exposure to daddy's stogie smoke. Since the photo was clearly taken indoors... that's why it's not lit.

I enjoy wearing leather gloves when enjoying my cigars.

IT"S LIKE THEY WERE SCANNING THE INSIDE OF MY BRAIN!!!!!
One quibble: those gloves woud be better if the cropped fingers had flaps that you could pull over to warm your digits once the cigar was finished.
