Springing

Yesterday I went to the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden in Southeast Portland, near the Reed campus.

The garden was planted in 1950, and there are ancient (to me) rhododendrons of all types growing beneath tall conifers. It was not the peak of bloom. That will be in a few weeks. But there are flowers blooming now that will not be in bloom later, so it was worth the trip. Hellebores, trilliums, epimediums, and ducks.

The day was clear and cold. Admission is free on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Go if you can.

That sounds cool! Now I just have to try to remember it.

I went there too, and of course, became a member (gotta support those gardens) and then got lost in the bowels of the garden...finally found my bearing by locating McLaughlin Blvd by sound and tracing it back to the entry garden. I got in a hissing fit spat with a goose, I almost had to kick his ass....
