Pejorative terms

Paco's name for twenty-somethings is "juice boxes."

Twinks who think they are bears because they managed to grow facial hair are "dust bunnies."

I approve of both of those. If I remember them long enough, they should become part of my lexicon.

I'm not sure why one would need a pejorative term for twenty-somethings in general.

"Dust bunny" I like. I was trying to think of an animal that gives off vastly more attitude than is warranted by its size... so perhaps an alternative would be "toy poodle"?

You know -- bears, otters, wolves ... toy poodles. ;)

[identity profile] fuzzyjay.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
It's not for twenty-somethings in general... some of them are nice and I even have some as friends.

It's for the annoying ones.

Crayfish come to mind... they put on a very impressive threat display for a little critter. Most people would think "dinner" rather than "cute little animal with attitude", though.

The quintessential example is the wolverine, but that's sort of taken.

I propose "erminette," not because it makes any sense, but because we would now have a rhyme for "sermonette."

I would seriously disagree with you about wolverines. They're strong and vicious; even grizzly bears prefer to avoid them.

I still think "toy poodle" better fits a twink with some face fuzz trying to pass itself off as a "bear".

[identity profile] danbearnyc.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Of course the old name for dustbunny, we're talking pre-WWII, is slut's wool.

I still like the word Twinkie because you can always tell when they're going stale.

[identity profile] fuzzyjay.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
You're not old enough to remember that. I'm going to have to start calling you Auntie.

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone else does ;-)

[identity profile] danbearnyc.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You're only the second person in two days to come up with that appellation.

Of course I'm not old enough. It's just that, well, I'm literate, see?

[identity profile] fuzzyjay.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
You're beyond literate.

[identity profile] danbearnyc.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Post-literate, past-literate, literati sniterati.

I need your snail mail address so I can send you the Raquel dvd, btw.

[identity profile] fuzzyjay.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be awesome, thanks! I'll email it to you.

I strongly approve of "dust bunnies".

[identity profile] marmtx.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
:( but makkuro kurosuke are nice. They're fuzzy and make abandoned houses more lively. They'll be mad at you for assigning their name to twinks with fur. why can't you call them furry twinks instead?

How about moldy twinks?

[identity profile] marmtx.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
Or mossy twinks :) That'll work

[identity profile] watchingitburn.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
Y'know, if you blow a juice box's straw hard enough, it'll spew all over you.

[identity profile] pensivegargoyle.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Juice box" sounds like it should be a name for guys who are a bit TOO muscular and look like they've been on steroids.

[identity profile] bendawg.livejournal.com 2007-02-06 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
I think I know some "dust bunnies," unfortunately.
