Portlandiana

We're here, in the Holiday Inn we scored for 50bucks/night. It's a decent room with free WiFi, like everwhere else in Portland except Starbucks.

Last night we went to a little Frenchy restaurant called Le Happy. It had a cool atmosphere, great drinks, great salads, and way-too-salty crêpes. Otherwise, we spent the day in bed relaxing. I needed a bit of recovery from the plane trip. Paco slept through most of it, but I spent most of the ride trying to figure out a position I could sleep in. So I napped, etc.

Oh, and after dinner we went to the Eagle, to check out the "Best Basket" (weaving?) contest. We got about 2 feet in the door when we were stopped by a wall of cigarette smoke. When, oh when, will Portland enact a smoking ban in bars? Please, oh please, let it be before June. We had to turn around and walk out.

So Portland had a little sun yesterday, apparently the first in about 3 weeks. Today is back to grey and rainy, but it's a misty-dewy sort of rain that I can tolerate.

I was hoping, actually. Portland is FULL of smokers, despite being hip.

I spose they think it is a part of their hipness. Lordy, I hope smoking isn't the new non-smoking :P

Unfortunately my partner still smokes, and it actually makes it more convenient when we're up there. I hope they pass a ban soon!

my partner smokes too, but he hates bars where you can smoke. Being here in CA he's gotten totally used to going outside for a cig, and enjoys not coming home all smokey.

That's why I'm very happy with the ban here in California. I hate coming back with my clothes smelling like a tobacco factory!

Portland apparently does have a "No-Smoking" policy in restaurants.

BTW, I added you to my list. Hope you don't mind.
