They don't tell you that it spreads all over your garden, is impossible to get rid of, and mostly just sends up flowerless stems. Uh huh....

Well, since this is a new variety, perhaps they've bred out the bad behavior. I didn't know that some of the older varieties are are ill-behaved, though. Where I come from Alstroemeria wasn't an option.

Sorry babycakes. I'm sure this variety is perfectly behaved... Matter of fact, I hear that it gets up early and makes Stumptown coffee for you BEFORE you wake up, and runs to the corner cafe for fresh chocolate croissants.

Why, I'm going out and buying a whole bunch myself for all my clients just as soon as I can, and YOU SHOULD GET SOME TOO!

I like alstro. But it does tend to get all over the place, says the professional gardener. FYI.

I have lots of cool plants to share. How about a lambs ear that smells like 7-up and has candy orange flowers?

Dude, daylilies had the running amok bred out of them, so why not alstroemerias? Have an open mind, is all I'm saying.

And I am grateful for the information that they spread. Just that the sarcasm was a little thick, is all.

These don't run per-se...they self-seed and any little bit of root will quickly develop a new plant... probably why it's so hard to dig them up... 1 cm of root...new plant.

Daylillies have the same root trick. it's pretty impressive when you think about it...Then again, that talent is inversely proportional to the "coolness" of said daylily variety. The huge chartruse flower with the burgundy throats? Those roots dry up and die if you even think about dividing them.
