I like the original, by Jacques Brel. You know that there's an English version, right? "If You Go Away", lyrics very loosely translated by Rod McCuen (nowhere near as powerful as the original French, IMHO). It was insanely popular in the 60s when I was a kid and has been covered a zillion times. Here's Dusty Springfield doing a nifty bilingual rendition.

That was good. I do like Jacques Brel's version, but for some reason I like women singers better, in general.

I can see where Lady Bunny got her look...

I think Brel's Flemish version totally trumps the original.

Here's the version by Mataraso used in Almodovar's Law of Desire, just in case you need to listen to it at home.

This and the aforementioned Flemish versions have long reigned as my favorites.
